Don’t look now but popular British Filipino actress Bea Alonzo has jumped ship from ABS-CBN to the GMA Network.
GMA Network itself announced her transfer after the official signing up on July 1 with GMA Network and GMA Artist Center at the Shangri-la Hotel in Mandaluyong City.
According to GMA Network, present during her signing were GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA Vice President for Drama Productions Redgie Acuña-Magno, GMA Vice President for Business Development Department III Darling de Jesus-Bodegon, GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara, GMA Assistant Vice President for Drama Productions Cheryl Ching-Sy, and Senior Program Manager Charles Koo.
Among those who welcomed Bea through a video message were Kapuso artists Richard Yap, Khalil Ramos, Gabbi Garcia, Camille Prats, Ruru Madrid and Barbie Forteza.
Prior to the announcement, GMA network posted a teaser that a new artist, described as “one of the biggest artists in Philippine showbiz” will be joining the Kapuso family.
Bea’s transfer followed the earlier transfer of top actor John Lloyd Cruz who had co-starred in successful movies with Bea Alonzo, who is Phylbert Angelli Ranollo Fagestrom, 33, in real life.
The network said in a post that Bea is set to star with Alden Richards in a movie inspired by the Japanese series “Pure Soul,” which has been remade into the hit South Korean movie “A Moment to Remember.”
It was gathered that the network is also cooking a movie or television series for Bea and John Lloyd.
On its website, GMA Network reported that Bea is happy to be part of GMA Network and the Kapuso family.
In an online interview with the press following the signing up, the actress revealed that it took her months to come up with a decision on her transfer.
“I was thinking, reflecting about what I want to do. There have been a lot of changes the past year and when GMA’s offer came, it came at the right time,” she said in English and Filipino.
“I was ready. I felt empowered and ready to chase my dreams and work in a new environment and meet new people,” she added.
According to Bea, the opportunity “fell on my lap at the right time and I seized, took it.”
“It was the right thing to do because I’m happy,” she said.
Now on to a new chapter in her life and career, Bea vows to give her all for the viewers.
“I will do my best to give you quality performance because that’s what you deserve. I am excited to work with Kapuso stars, writers, and directors,” she said.
On its social media pages before the signing, the GMA Network shared a black and white photo revealing just a small part of the artist’s face.
