GMA Network top actor Alden Richards finally admitted that he fell in love with former love team partner Maine Mendoza who is now married to actor-congressman Arjo Atayde.
Alden, who is Richard Reyes Faulkerson Jr. in real life, made the admission to showbiz host Boy Abunda during his program “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on GMA Network.
The veteran host asked Alden: “Did you fall for Maine Mendoza?”
“Yes, Tito Boy. Yes po,” Alden answered.
“Hypocrite po kung hindi, and yes po, ayoko pong sabihing alam niya, pero I did confess,” he added.
His admission to Boy Abunda was reported by various Manila media, including Philippine Star.
Alden also said that his love team with Maine, popularly known as AlDub, was his biggest romance and biggest breakup.
“Romance, yes, Tito Boy. Ang daming opportunities na dumating po sa buhay ko because of it. I’m very grateful to Maine. I’m very grateful to ‘Eat Bulaga,’ by all means. Sincerely,” Alden said as Philippine Star reported.
“Kasi parang du’n ko po naramdaman na talagang when you work hard for something, si Lord, ‘pag may hinihingi ka, hindi niya ‘yan ibibigay sa panahong gusto mong makuha. He always has this magic of giving it at the right timing. But breakup, Tito Boy, yes,” he added in the Philippine Star report.
Alden said that the AlDub breakup is for both of them to grow as individuals.
“A breakup. But let’s remove the negative context of breakup in this conversation with AlDub. It doesn’t necessarily mean that when you’re going through a breakup, laging masama, laging masakit, laging malungkot,” he said.
“It was a breakup because both of us, Maine and I, we needed growth. We needed to venture into our individual life, you know, to learn [to] move,” he added, according to Philippine Star.
