Alex and Toni Gonzaga on the spotlight anew

SISTERS, both actress, singers and tv hosts, Toni and Alex Gonzaga
“On my birthday, God taught me a hard and important lesson. Humility, kindness and better judgment. I am truly sorry, Kuya Allan,” Gonzaga wrote on Twitter, referring to the waiter she smeared icing on as seen in a viral clip as reported by CNN Philippines and other Manila media.
The now-deleted video posted by content creator Dani Barretto showed the 35-year-old Gonzaga blowing her birthday candle, before suddenly smearing chocolate icing on the face of the server holding the cake. The guests can be heard cheering in the background.
The scene drew flak from netizens and even names in the entertainment industry — who called for better treatment for service workers in the country.
The actress also apologized to her family for causing them “pain and embarrassment.”
“I will rise from this a wiser and better person,” she said.
Later on, Alex, who is now Mrs. Gonzaga-Morada, cheered her sister Celestine Toni Gonzaga-Soriano for successfully staging her 20th anniversary concert at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City last Friday January 20, Manila Bulletin editor Robert Requintina reported.
Prior to the concert, Toni was belittled by many citizens, claiming she is “done” as a singer and actress because attendance to her concert reportedly was unsure. The concert, however, turned out to be successful as all seats were sold out, rebuffing critics.
During the show, as Robert Requintina reported, Toni told Alex after her number: “Talaga? Nag-concert ka pala?”
Alex said: “Talaga. Pinagusapan ‘yan for almost three days.”
Toni answered: “Kaya pala trending ka for three days” to which the crowd roared with laughter.
Alex said: “Nagbago na ako hindi na ako ganun.”
“Nakita mo birthday ko. Lahat nilayo namin ang cakes,” said Toni.
Alex said: “Nagbago na ako Tin. I’m a changed person. Sis, hindi mo ba ako nakikita kung bakit ako I’m a changed person? Ito yung ayaw ko na pinagkakalayo-layo ko noong isang taon.”
In a video clip uploaded by News5 on Twitter on Saturday, Jan. 21, Alex mentioned about the viral “icing cake” during Toni’s jampacked concert.
It would be recalled that the video of Alex smearing icing cake on a server went trended on social media. But everything has been settled between Alex and the waiter. (Jennifer T. Santos)
