Janine Gutierrez, Nadine Lustre vie for FAMAS best actress trophy

The 71st FAMAS Awards nominees for awards ceremonies at the Manila Hotel on August 13 were announced .
The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) said vying for Best Picture are “Family Matters,” “Blue Room,” “Leonor Will Never Die,” “La Traidora” and “Deleter.”
Vying for Best Director are Nuel Naval for “Family Matters,” Mikhail Red for “Deleter,” Ma-An Asuncion-Dagñalan for “Blue Room,” Alejandro Ramos for “La Traidora” and Martika Escobar for “Leonor Will Never Die.”
Janine Gutierrez, Nadine Lustre and Heaven Peralejo are among those who received nods for best actress, while Paulo Avelino, John Arcilla, and Ian Veneracion are among those vying for best actor.
The stars of the film Family Matters, Mylene Dizon and Nikki Valdez, are both vying for the Best Supporting Actress plum while co-star Nonie Buencamino is nominated Best Supporting Actor.
Film leads Liza Lorena and Noel Trinidad, on the other hand, are competing in the Best Actress and Best Actor categories, respectively.
“Family Matters,” directed by Nuel Naval and produced under Cineko Productions and Top Story, was released theatrically as an official entry to the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival.
It’s a touching dramedy that revolves around a family caught in emotional turmoil as they contend with one another over the responsibility of caring for their father who has suffered a stroke.
Next to remove the most number of nominations are “Leonor Will Never Die” and “Blue Room” with 10 each, while “Deleter” has eight.
