KC Concepcion, other Pinoys to star in Hollywood film

KC CONCEPCION stars in Hollywood movie
Actress KC Concepcion is in a new milestone following her announcement that she is part of new U.S. film “Asian Persuasion.”
In an Instagram post, KC, who is Maria Kristina Cassandra Cuneta Concepcion in real life, included a screengrab from Variety Magazine that showed her head shot alongside Filipino actors Dante Basco, Paolo Montalban, and Jax Bacani.
KC’s caption to the photo indicated they had actually just wrapped Day 3 of filming.
KC called the project a new journey for her.
“Thank you for joining us on this new journey. Grateful to be part of this Asian-American project, with our amazing cast & crew,” added KC, 37, the daughter of singer actress Sharon Cuneta and actor Gabby Concepion.
It was reported in Variety that KC replaced actress Toni Gonzaga as the lead star of “Asian Persuason,” the directorial debut of Filipino American Jhette Tolentino, the three-time Tony Awards and Grammy Awards winner.
Last July, Gonzaga was announced to be part of the film, but she left the production reportedly due to “schedule conflicts.” Concepcion then stepped in as lead actress, as per report.
On the lead cast of the movie are Kevin Kreider, Paolo Montalban, Scarlett Sher, Celia Au, Geneva Carr and Jax Bacani.
Also in the cast are Filipino Americans Apl.de.Ap and Tony Labrusca, Rachel Alejandro, Yam Concepcion, Fe Delos Reyes, and Rex Navarrete.
“Set in New York, romantic comedy ‘Asian Persuasion’ features a diverse, primarily Asian cast and seeks to elevate, inform and inspire the Asian narrative,” the Hollywood magazine reported.
The report stated that the movie follows newly divorced Mickey, a chef who has been trying to overcome tragedy while trying to establish a Michelin-rated Filipino restaurant. As life continues to be unkind, Mickey comes up with scheme involving online dating and getting remarried. “Everything goes smoothly until Mickey’s plot backfires on him,” The Asian Persuasion writes on IG.
“Asian Persuasion is produced under the Jhett Tolentino Productions banner with Tolentino and screenwriter Mike Ang serving as producers,” Variety added and reported by GMA News and other Manila-based media .
Jhett Tolentino recently produced Isabel Sandoval’s critically acclaimed movie “Lingua Franca.”
KC earlier dropped hints on Instagram about starring in a movie, GMA News reported. On her birthday a week ago, she shared a photo of herself being made up and said “being back on set for my birthday, doing what I’ve always loved, is a celebration in itself.”
“Coming back to acting + living in New York for work is another dream come true,” she added.
