ACTRESS Lovie Poe to star in a Hollywood film

Filipina actress, model and recording artist Lovi Poe will star in the Hollywood film The Chelsea Cowboy.

A Deadline report stated that the film is a biopic produced by Idris Elba based on the life of John Bindon.
After the release of the Deadline report, Lovi confirmed the news on her Instagram page. “Ahhh… can’t wait to start filming The Chelsea Cowboy in October… Excited to be working with this amazing team of creatives,” she wrote.
Lovie, 32, who is Lourdes Virginia Moran Poe in real life, was immediately congratulated by fellow actors after learning of the report. Lovie is the daughter of the late movie king Fernando Poe Jr. and actress Rowena Moran.

The Deadline report added that Lovi’s co-stars in the film are Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four, Beastly) and Poppy Delevingne (Kingsman:The Golden Circle, Spy Intervention).

The film will be directed by Ben Cookson.

In what was described as “her biggest English-language movie role to date,” Lovi will portray British Blues singer Dana Gillespie, Bindon’s employer.

Bindon’s ties with Gillespie allowed him access to high society, most notably the island of Mustique where he met the rebel royal Princess Margaret.

Gillespie was reported to be close with Hollywood’s leading singers and actors. Citing a biography, Deadline reported that Gillespie’s famous lovers include David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Michael Cane, Jimmy Paige, Keith Moon and Sean Connery.

The Chelsea Cowboy will begin filming in late September 2021.

The film will be based on Bindon’s life story and his inability to leave his criminal past behind despite having a successful acting career.

Several fellow Filipino celebrities including KC Concepcion and Raymond Gutierrez congratulated Lovi for her milestone.

Lovi is most known for her performances as Kristal Maisog in the series Bakekang (2006) and Shiela Real in the series Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real (2014).

She bagged her first acting award as Best Actress at the 2010 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival for her portrayal of Lilibeth in the film Mayohan. She was also nominated for a FAMAS Best Actress Award in the same year for her role as Kath Asero in Sagrada Familia.
