Don’t look now, but actor and popular television host Luis Manzano might run in 2022.
This was hinted by respected showbiz columnist Ethel Ramos in her latest Malaya column.
In case that happen, she wrote it was not surprising as both his parents, Vilma Santos-Recto and Filipino American from San Francisco, California Eduardo “Edu” Manzano have entered politics. His stepdad, incumbent Senator Ralph Recto, is also from a known political clan.
Luis’ Mommy Vi, Rosa Vilma Santos in real life, is the current representative of Lipa City and Batangas in the House of Representatives. She was also long-term governor of Batangas and mayor of Lipa City.
Edu, on the other hand, was Makati City vice mayor. He also ran for vice president in the May 2010 and representative of San Juan City in 2016 but lost in both elections.
Will Luis run for governor? Mayor? Board member?
It’s still anybody’s guess, the columnist wrote, adding even Luis’ wife, actress Jessy Mendiola, said she has no idea yet.
Jessy and Luis were married February this year. The couple said they both want to have kids.
Some observers said Luis may run for mayor of Lipa City to be able to continue what her mother started in that city.
So far, the people of Lipa City and Batangas have no inkling what position Luis will run in the 2022 elections.
They will know when the filing of certificates of candidacy before the Commission on Elections start on October 1.
Earlier, it was gathered that Congresswoman Vilma may run for senator while husband Senator Ralph will run for congressman in Batangas, a post he had occupied before. (Jeanne Michael Penaranda)
